Onondaga Court Appointed Special Advocates (Onondaga CASA) believes that every child has the right to a safe and permanent home.  Through dedicated volunteers, Onondaga CASA  advocates for the best interests of children placed in or at-risk of foster care who are before the Court because of neglect or abuse. The CASA program recruits, trains and supervises volunteers from diverse backgrounds, who are appointed by Family Court Judges to assist the Court in promoting safe, permanent and nurturing homes for these children.

The National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, together with its state and local member programs, supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every abused or neglected child in the United States can be safe, have a permanent home and the opportunity to thrive.

Providing detailed reports to Family Court Judges and collaborating throughout the year to ensure each and every child is a priority.  

Our volunteers meet with each child, at a minimum, once a month.

 Volunteers communicate regularly with education, medical, and mental health  service providers.  ​​
